About the Show

My Foolish Heart is a radio show hosted by Elizabeth Eck, a life-long lover of all things jazz. Dedicated to the jazz of the 50s-70s, it explores the genres of bebop, hard bop, bossa nova, West Coast jazz, modal jazz, and cool jazz. An additional focus is placed on Chicago-based jazz artists like Coleman Hawkins and Ahmad Jamal, as well as lesser known female vocalists like Blossom Dearie and Morgana King. Whether you use jazz as soothing background music for working in the library or you’re a regular at the Green Mill, come join us for an hour of relaxing, uplifting music.

  1. Great and varied selections from our great American music: Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Coleman Hawkins, Sinatra and Jobim (Brazilian, of course), Bill Evans, and others. I look forward to much more of this exploration so that this music can be remembered and treasured.

  2. These playlists are the perfect highbrow relaxation. Whether you are sipping an afternoon coffee or concentrating on a problem set, you’ll do it better when accompanied by these jazz classics. Can’t wait to hear more.
