As a Nigerian immigrant, I have always immersed myself in African music as a way for me to remain connected to my culture, and I’d love to share some of that experience with Midwave’s listeners. From Afro-Funk and classic Afrobeats to modern-day Alté-Cruise, there are many undiscovered gems in the African music world. With “Fààji Lawa,” a Nigerian Yoruba phrase that roughly translates to “we’re having a good time,” join me in exploring African music genres that are incredibly joyful and bring celebratory vibes. Many connections will also be made to the African diaspora, and African artists outside of the continent will be highlighted on the show. If you’re looking for a fun time, Fààji Lawa is for you!
