Many people have heard of iconic bands like Maná, or Los Caifanes. There are several influences on what genre of Spanish music is popular in the U.S. In North America, reggaeton, and corridos are widely popular – but rock hasn’t achieved the same level of mainstream recognition in this period. One reason is the lack of consolidation in the genre with respect to Latin America.
The show, titled Volumen Brutal, aims to share this music whilst giving context on the artists and their work.
We want music to be a defining feature of who we are, and while Maná, and Los Caifanes will always be classics, there’s more to explore in the genre of Spanish rock.
The show reserves the right to play rock-adjacent music in other languages in the space.
